Hooray! VTM is launching a real ‘Tiny House Battle’. Teams are given nine days to design and build a tiny house. Afterwards, the candidate buyer will decide which couple has built the most beautiful ‘VTM Tiny House’. You can watch it from Tuesday 20 December on VTM at 20:40 or on VTM GO.
“The programme will raise awareness of tiny houses on wheels. This is positive for all those who are inclined towards the tiny house lifestyle.” responds Bert Schelfhout of Tiny Wonder. “We are all curious about how tiny housing in the spotlight will come. The series will inspire many people to design or build one themselves.”
The format of the Tiny House Battle is simple. Each episode, two construction teams go to work. The couple wishing to purchase the tiny house decides at the end which mini house they prefer.
“If you want to get your own inspiration, this is the perfect opportunity. I expect a pack of self-builders to get started in the coming years.” said Bert.
Hanne and Sam first couple with tiny dream in VTM Tiny House Battle
A first couple already testified in the press. Hanne De Vleeschouwer (24) and Sam Van Emelen (25) from Antwerp have the dream of living smaller and slower. “We live in a flat in Antwerp and long for peace and quiet in nature,” the two tell in The News Gazette. Sam is a geographer and insists on the ecological aspect. “Less stuff, cheaper living and a lower footprint.”
Using a mood board, the couple let the two construction teams know their wishes. Their wish list included a dedicated sleeping area, an office space, coloured glass and reusable materials. In the first episode, Sam and Hanne are already in action. They are currently already living in their VTM tiny house.
